frank herbert is amazing... the amount of insight he has is completely astounding la how do ppl reach such a level of clarity of vision?
in god emperor, the way I understand it, the God Emperor’s prescient ability stems from just an immense ability to introspect, along with his wealth of experience from his ancestral memories (this is abt the only supernatural thing in the book... which i don't think it's all that ludicrous actually). Coupled with the Worm’s body of sensory acuteness, that makes him able to deal with almost anything I would think, being both externally and internally focused to extreme extents at the same time.
this quote triggered the post...
"But the tripod upon which Eternity swings is composed of flesh and thought and emotions... If we deny the need for thought, Moneo, as some do, we lose the powers of reflection; we cannot define what our senses report. If we deny the flesh, we unwheel the vehicle which bears us. But if we deny the emotion, we lose all touch with our internal universe. It was emotions which I missed the most."
is that the 3 components to the ideal person? gives me new insights into my growing model. it always just seemed to be internal/external. this 3 way divide is... insightful.
